Hegel and Exposure

My talk will be an attempt to explore in which ways Hegel’s philosophy could be actualized as a key element in a political philosophy which takes its point of departure, not in reason, sociality or autonomy but in
exposure, vulnerability, and dependence.
Victoria Fareld is historian of ideas, currently based in Gothenburg and Berlin. She completed her Ph.D. in 2007 at Gothenburg University, and her dissertation Att vara utom sig inom sig: Charles Taylor, erkännandet och Hegels aktualitet (Being without oneself within oneself: Charles Taylor, recognition, and Hegel’s actuality) deals with the notion of recognition in political philosophy.
